The Poet Who Didn't Know It

The Poet Who Didn't Know It

Stevie Laurice Rauls

One million thoughts, but nothing to say, so here’s a poem to start the day:

Things In Front of My Face Right Now

A blinking cursor,

Taunting me, inadequate.

A photo of grandpa,

Who lived life compassionate.

A plant reaching for light,

Desperate for a spin.

A game of chess,

I never win.

A perfect row of books,

With minor imperfections.

Candlesticks with bows on them,

To make a good impression.

Tic Tac Toe,

But only for show.

A clock loudly ticking,

Just letting me know.

Bar cart run dry,

An experimental discipline.

A drained cup of coffee,

Spiking my adrenaline.

Sunshine and birds,

Calling my name.

It’s time to get up,

And go play the game.
